News & editorial

AUGUST 2002

If this editorial or the Tappits content seem a bit disjointed it's due to being a little knackered as I'm piecing it together last minute on Monday, having only just returned from holiday in the early hours of this morning.
As I've not been around for 2 weeks I missed the Thorne Gala Autotest but Ian has included results elsewhere.

The 2002 Annual General Meeting held on the 17th July had an average attendance level and no earth shattering issues were raised. We have had responsibility changes on the Committee and another member, Phil Bielby, has joined to give us a helping hand and our Quiz Master Dave James has accepted the position of Social Secretary - which I think, in a way, is what he's being doing pretty well for quite a while. All contact details are on the revised Committee Members page.

In last months Tappits Gordon Waddington included details of the Trackrod MC event and Ian Beech has further news in his "Inkin's"

Trackrod intend to give a thank-you for helping on the event by supplying, via the stage start, a marshals pack to include; a Thank-you letter, Marshals ID, safety notes, stage plan, check sheet and more than likely a pen and mug as they have in the past. Please - if you can help in any way give Ian a call.

The Gainsborough Festival of Transport on Saturday 14th September is quickly approaching so if you want to take part and display your cars on the LMSC Stand please let me know ASAP as I have to inform them what size pitch we will require. It looks like the Club, thanks to Dave James, may have an Aston Martin DB5 and a Tyrell 6 Wheel Racing Car to put on show so it should attract some interest from visitors.

For a while now I've been trying to get information on the above Championship which has a round which is to take place somewhere near Leeds on the 26th and 27th October. The Off Road Championship, like Rallying, relies upon a whole host of volunteers for the competition to work. More than anyone else they rely on marshals.

I will keep an eye on www.BritishOffRoadChampionship.co.uk for more information and relay this to you in the next edition of Tappits

Finally a date for your diaries - the 2003 Dinner Dance will be on Saturday the 25th January - a little earlier than of late - so make a note so you don't get double booked.
