JULY 2002

Wrong again……………….Apologies to all of you who had expected to attend the Marshals Training Video night on the 26th June at the Recreation Club, our current meeting venue. We had a few problems……….first the Recreation Club caught fire during half time of the England World Cup match on Saturday 15th June so another venue was needed urgently. Thankfully Malcolm Lister found us a room at the Inn - The Star at Barnby Dun. Next problem there was no video to show on the night as it hadn't been received. We are hoping to have it in time for the 21st August - the date is penned in on the What's On page but with another in reserve - The 2002 Robin Hood Forest Stages - which we are hoping will arrive by that time.
Thankfully the Recreation Club has now been rewired after the fire problem so the Annual General Meeting will be held there as planned.
Please - if you can attend come and give some input and more importantly if you would like to help in the running of your Club why not volunteer for the Committee. Enclosed with your Tappits is a Committee Nomination Form. Please note nomination forms must be returned to Maureen by the 13th July.

BBQ…………Last month I inadvertently omitted the start time for the Bar B Q at Peter and Marion's on Saturday 13th July. For all those attending please be aware that 6.30 for 7.00pm is the time I've been given. Oh and don't forget to take your wallet if you haven't paid yet - £6 for adults and £3 for under 14's.
To avoid the rains of Silverstone and to see a Ferrari 1 and 2 again I paid a visit to the South Yorkshire RS Owners Regional Day at Castle Park Rugby Ground Sunday. There were some pretty impressive motors on show as you'll see from some of the shots elsewhere in Tappits. Favourites, mine anyway, were the blue and white Mk 1 RS2000 and the RS 200.

As detailed in last months newsletter on Sunday 4th August The Richard Foundation, are holding a Family Fun Day in Doncaster. Through Nick Huntridge the club have been asked if we can help them marshalling the car parks etc. Please……. if you can spare a couple of hours for the Foundation who are raising money to provide a children's hospice, let nick know on Doncaster 537419.

As listed last month, the Fifth Gainsborough Festival of Transport at the Queen Elizabeth High School takes place on Saturday 14th September. The Club have been invited to set up a stand so if anyone would like to go please let me know ASAP as I have to inform them what size pitch we will require.
