May 2004

First - to all of you who missed the ANEMMC Training event on the 18th April you missed the best session to date. Gerry Blythe and Avril Clarke came to do the honours with Richard Ashton of Calder Rescue and our very own Gordon Waddington doing presentations with reference to their particular knowledge and skills.
Although Richard couldn't bring his Rescue Unit to help demonstrate incident procedure, his talk proved very informative and points learned will prove beneficial to anyone faced with a serious incident when out marshalling. Judicial procedure was discussed at length but the talk given by Gordon really sent home just how complicated the process can be to organise and run a Stage. Many of us have been involved in an individual function without fully appreciating all that's involved from the first time you are requested to run a stage right through to getting home after the event.
If you ever have the chance to sit in on this presentation in the future - take it, it opened my eyes a little more.

DATE ANNOUNCED FOR RALLY SUPERCAR DAY 2004
The International Historic Motorsport Show on the 21st and 22nd February proved quite a crowd puller despite, at times, the intense cold. Now there's an event coming up which is being held at a time when the temperature will be more suitable for the coffin dodgers like me.
Following a very successful event in 2003, dozens of the world's best-loved rally cars, past and present, will take part in the 4th Rally Supercar Day, at Castle Combe Circuit in Wiltshire on Saturday 14 August. New for 2004 will be a display of Rally Raid vehicles, including competing cars, motorcycles and even one of the giant T4 trucks from this year's Paris Dakar event.
For special stage fans, examples of almost every car rallied during the past 30 years will be there: From historic Minis through to Ford Escorts and Lotus Sunbeams from the Group 4 era; Audi quattros and Metro 6R4s from the Group B 'supercar' days; right up to current rally cars.
Russ Swift will be joined by his son, who seems set to follow in his father's footsteps, for his popular precision driving display. Expect crowd-pleasing 'donuts' to follow as both father and son now have a matching pair of Mitsubishi Evo's to play with.
The day will feature a mixture of action on the track and in the paddock, with activities and attractions to suit everyone interested in rallying. Admission to this year's event will be £10 so if you fancy a trip down let's see if we can fill a few cars to spread the cost. See www.rallyday.com for further information on this and previous years events

Buckle up and hang on; the Richard Burns Rally game is nearly here! The game is claimed to be faster and slicker than anything you've seen before. For further information about this game visit the official website www.richardburnsrally.com

A few notices for you Classic car fans out there
On the 27th July Brigg Community Association will again be hosting a street show with 200+ vehicles in closed off Brigg town centre. Jeff Southall is one member who attends so if you want to know something about this event give him or me a call. Further to Brigg; Other events that may interest you for a fun day out are:
20th June - Fathers day 100+ vehicles at Brodsworth Hall, Doncaster
25th July - Canon Hall ,Barnsley

Ian Wright is having a sabbatical from the FISC European Championship this year and is concentrating on the MG Cockshoot Cup series in the UK . Ian is being helped by Mel and Gill Drohan who have kindly sponsored the Midget which now carries the M & G livery.
With one race down and seven to go the next race is at the one day meet at Rockingham raceway on Sunday 23rd May. If you've never been to Rockingham why not have a run down and tie up with us. The race will be sponsored by "Pukka Pies" so as I'm crewing for him we'll hopefully get to try some. Probably be more acceptable to the stomach than some of the food we have been getting with the FISC crews.
Finally - I thought I'd better give advance notice with reference to the AGM on 21st July. I'll be sending an official notification letter out next month together with a Committee Nomination form etc. Please consider joining the Committee as new blood and enthusiasm are most welcome.
